This is not only easy on the wallet but also on the mind, relieving most of us from fretting before every occasion.Colour is the most important aspect of fashion everywhere especially in Pakistan, mainly because we just love to experiment with bold or pastel colours. And most of the times we opt for hues that do not complement our complexion and weather. We do not consider that whatever looks good on a catwalk model may not be meant for us at all. This is where our designers play a vital role and they need to carefully select shades that can be worn by a large section of the society, so that a fashion catastrophe does not occur. A basic spectrum of a particular colour should be selected per season, so that everyone can wear the 'season's in colour'.<br />The second most important thing in our fashion world is embroidery. It is never out-dated, and can be used again and again to give a statement to the outfit. Since we are blessed with a variety of patterns - cultural and regional - coupled with a huge variety of material to be used and a thousands of stitches to choose from, our outfits end up to be quite unique and eye catching. These save most of our outfits from looking the same, giving a large choice to the consumer to pick and choose. The embroidery can range from a full body pattern to small strategically placed motifs - and everything is acceptable.<br />Due to our changing weather, we have a variety of material to choose from. Basically, lawn or chiffon is<br />the material to wear in the hot weather we have most of the year. But we have the novelty of selecting other material during the different seasons.<br />Talking about the make-up we also observe that it is changing with every season. Now that winters are almost over the make-up is also becoming subtle and natural. The warm and bold colours of winter are now being replaced by hues of peach and pink. The main focus is mostly on eyes and lips. The rule still applies - if the eyes are smoky, the lips should be kept natural/nude and if the eyes are kept light then a bright shade on the lips will look perfect.<br />Coming back to the outfits we have special material for different festivals and occasions, ranging from plain to heavy clothes, embroidered with stones and beads, in a variety of colour. This helps us to delve according to our pleasure, and not be stuck with wearing a material that we can't carry. Even the make-up should be according to the special occasion or event that you are attending.<br />And inline with the loud taste that most of us have in Pakistan, we tend to opt for vibrant colours thereby lending the regal touch to most of our fancy wear. Then our habit of mix and match of materials, designs and colours help us in making exclusive outfits every time giving our designers a huge palette to work with.<br />Our outfits allow us to play with our beautiful assortment of jewellery which ranges from the modern to the traditional giving each of us a signature persona and style.</div>

Six months later we are back, this time the bar has been raised with 54 designers show casing collections, international designers and models Pakistani fashion has truly gone global.<br />We realised the need for an institution that could bring all those related to fashion under one umbrella to promote fashion as a business and to project a positive and trendy image of Pakistan across the globe. This we achieved in November with Fashion Pakistan Week 1 and now, FPW 2 is positioned to take this further.<br />Today Fashion Pakistan is the country's single largest platform providing that much-needed boost to Pakistan 's fledgling fashion industry. A part of the Council of International Fashion Designers, which was created with an understanding of co-operation to promote and support our fashion in the global market place, our members represent a major segment of the design fraternity working together to encourage, promote and facilitate the development and growth of the fashion industry and make it competitive in international markets by building on relationships with buyers both overseas and domestic, establishing and strengthening ties with foreign designers.<br />We achieved our first landmark with the huge success of Fashion Pakistan Week 1. It not only opened new vistas for us and reinforced our trust on the fact that nothing is impossible. It encouraged others to take the plunge and, as a result, we have seen a recent plethora of fashion weeks in Pakistan .<br />Fashion Pakistan has grown since November, and as more and more designers joined the platform, it encouraged us to set sights higher and provided the impetus to organize an event that is even bigger in proportion. FPW2 is the culmination of that aspiration.<br />At the time of inception Fashion Pakistan had some very clear objectives that we strive to fulfil to the best of our capabilities. A company whose board is democratically elected, by the designer, for the designer, it is the fashion fraternity's representative body. One of our primary objectives is to educate, empower and encourage designers and promote traditional crafts, and in November we introduced 8 new faces on the ramp several of whom have become super stars and have shown abroad and are stocking abroad. This list includes names like Fahad Hussayn, Feeha Jamshed, Sanam Chaurhri and Rizwanullah. This year too, we are introducing fabulous new talent and some of the names to look out for are Fayez Agaria, Sania Maskatia, Zaheer Abbas, Aziz Ali, Sana Rizwan, Anum Siraj, Zaiena Haider, Summaiya Warsi and Shakeel Saigol with his incredible menswear debut show. Of course the giants like Umar Syeed, Sana Safinaz, Faiza Samee, Kamiar Rokni, Shamaeel Ansari, Maheen Khan and Deepak Perwani will all be there along with many others.<br />Fashion Pakistan is growing and in our journey we hope we have learned from our mistakes. One of the worlds best kept secrets is that Pakistan is a great business opportunity, a fabulous tourist destination and a very fashionable place. The legs are wide at the top, and narrow at the bottom.Salwars are pleated at the waist and held up by a drawstring or an elastic belt. The pants can be wide and baggy, or they can be cut quite narrow, on the bias. In the latter case, they are known as churidar.<br />The kameez is a long shirt or tunic. The side seams (known as the chaak) are left open below the waist-line, which gives the wearer greater freedom of movement. The kameez is usually cut straight and flat; older kameez use traditional cuts, modern kameez are more likely to have European-inspired set-in sleeves.The tailor’s taste and skill are usually displayed not in the overall cut, but in the shape of the neckline and the decoration of the kameez. When women wear the salwar-kameez, they usually wear a long scarf or shawl called a dupatta around the head or neck.For Muslim women, the dupatta is a less stringent alternative to the chador or burqa (see hijab). For Hindu women (especially those from northern India, where the salwar-kameez is most popular), the dupatta is useful when the head must be covered, as in a temple or the presence of elders. Today, aim for a “textured, piecey, free ’fro,” she recommends, perhaps parted to one side.<br />The classic pageboy, meant for straightened hair, is now a modern, layered bob.<br />The “slicked-back ’do” for short hair was generously “lubed” and brushed back when you were younger. Today, it’s “texturized to highlight the natural curl pattern.”<br />Long, straight hair will never go out of style, but Raines recommends angling it at the face or fashioning “a riot of natural curls.”<br />Ponytails are always a sensible standby when you’re pressed for time, but Raines believes buying an I Dream of Jeannie-style hairpiece confers a more sophisticated look.<br />Braids are always pleasing to the eye, and Raines urges women to aim for Janet Jackson’s look in the film Poetic Justice.<br />Dreadlocks are another popular style, particularly during the summer, when hair feels heavy and you want to reduce its contact with your neck. For the uninitiated, dreadlocks are not braids. Rather, the hair is tightly twisted, tangled and knotted (“locked”) into place (think of reggae great Bob Marley). Locks are difficult to undo, so select this style only if you’re comfortable with a long-term commitment.<br />You don’t need long hair to wear locks. A length of 3” will suffice. Some women will lock their own hair, but it’s advisable to use an experienced stylist.<br />Some women erroneously believe that locks are maintenance-free. The style can be worn without problems if you follow specific guidelines:<br />Shampoo appropriately: every three to five days, on average—definitely at least once per week. If you fail to shampoo frequently enough, your locks will become dirty, itchy and begin to smell. If you wash too often, locks will become too dry. Your shampooing schedule should be based on your scalp condition and lifestyle. When dreads are new, experts often recommend washing them through nylon mesh to prevent loosening. (A pair of clean pantyhose works well.)<br />Use the right shampoo—one designed for black hair, which won’t leave residue. Many stylists recommend Dread Soap (available from www.dreadlocks.com), which contains no colored dyes, fragrances, animal products or chemicals that compromise locks. Always rinse well after washing, and dry locks thoroughly with a towel, followed by air-drying. Tight dreadlocks that retain water may actually form mildew.<br />Use specially formulated astringent cleansing pads between shampoo days to reduce any buildup of excess oil on the scalp.<br />Moisturize regularly with appropriate products. Dr. Susan C. Taylor, a dermatologist who directs the Skin of Color Center at St. Luke’s–Roosevelt Hospital Center in New York City, and author of Brown Skin, recommends two products manufactured by Dark and Lovely: Tea Tree Oil Lock and Twist Buster, as well as Hydrating Citrus Braid and Sheen Spray.<br />Avoid product buildup by switching from pomades and gels to light oils. This will also help eliminate frizz.<br />Wear a silk or satin scarf when you sleep to prevent frizz and dryness.<br />Maintain dreadlocks by replacing rubber bands, as needed. Otherwise, locks will loosen. Never tug or pull at them.<br />Exercise caution when coloring or bleaching dreadlocks. Seek the assistance of a qualified stylist to avoid hair breakage. </div>
